Sadly, all good things come to an end. It was my last day on the Camino de Invierno. I woke up, got ready, and went downstairs to find the breakfast that was left out on a table for me. I couldn’t find the lights, so I just ate in the dark before leaving, locking the door behind me and leaving the keys in the hidden spot they showed me the night before. Lamentablemente, todo lo bueno tiene un final. El ulímo día de mi Camino de Invierno ha llegado. Me desperté, me preparé y me bajé al comedor para encontrar el desayuno que me dejaron. No pude encontrar la luz, y por eso, desayuné en la oscuridad antes de salir. Cerré la puerte con llave y la dejé en el sitio escondido que me mostró el hospitalero la noche anterior.

As the owner of Hostal A Latiza had explained the night before, there was a variant that went back to the Camino instead of having to backtrack a kilometre. It was somewhat marked, but a few key turns had me using my intuition, which worked. It went through a lot of fields and was mostly along an unused road. I know I passed cows at some point. I was grateful to reach Penerbroso, another settlement without any services. Cómo el hospitalero de Hostal A Latizia me explicó la noche anterior, había un variante atajo al camino en lugar de retrodecer un kilómetro al Camino. Había algunas señales, pero tenía que intuir la dirección en algunas bifuracaciones, y me funcionó. Este variante pasó por muchos campos y iba por un carretera poca usada. Vi a algunas vacas. Me alegré haber llegado a Penerbroso, otra población sin servicios, donde me encontré en el Camino otra vez.

It was a short day without any incident. I went through several small villages without any services of any kind. I saw four German shepherds and pet two of them, and one of them welcomed me to the población. Fue un día corto sin incidente. Pasé por muchas poblaciones sin servicios de ningún tipo. Vi a cuatro pastores alemanes y dos me dejaron acaricar. Otro me daba la bienvenida a su publo.

I arrived to Lalín, population 20,201, around 12:30 and had a couple of coffees before a really good lunch in a restaurante pijo (posh) for only 12€. Once again, my hostal was on the edge of town, Hostal Caracas, where the hospitalera was one of the most welcoming I had run into on the Camino. She gave me a yellow arrow pin and the wifi finally worked.Llegué a Lalín, población 20.201, sobre las 12.30. Tomé unos cafes con leche antes de comer en un restaurante pijo por solo 12#. Una vez más, el hostal estaba ubicado en las afueras del pueblo, el Hostal Caracas, y tenía una de las hospitaleras más acogedoras que conocí en este Camino. Me regaló una chapa que tenía la forma de una flecha amarilla. Y por fin, el wifi funcionaba.

I rested, then explored the town a bit and had tortilla at a bar nearby. My foot was beginning to give me some problems, so in a way, I was glad I wouldn’t have time to walk the 50 kilometres that were left to Santiago. I had arrived on foot t in 2018, so the bus the following morning would be good enough for me. Descansé, exploré el pueblo, y cené un bocadillo de tortilla en un bar cercano. Mi pie estaba dándome algunos problemas. Había una parte que estaba contenta de no tener que caminar los 50 kilómetros que me faltaban para llegar a Santiago. Había llegado a pie en 2018, y por eso, el autobús la próxima mañana sería suficiente para mi.
