I went on two school trips my senior year of high school, one with the band to Disney World and the other with the senior class to New York City, both places I had been to before. Viajé dos veces con mi instituto durante mi último año del colegio. Un viaje fue con la banda a Disney World y el otro fue el viaje escolar del último año a Nueva York. Ya había visitado los dos sitios. 

The band trip began during spring break with an overnight bus ride to Orlando. A couple of people decided to count the Waffle Houses out loud, so all through the night everyone was woken up by shouts of “Waffle House #00037”. El viaje con la banda fue durante las vacaciones de primavera con un viaje de autobús por la noche a Orlando. Un par de personas contaron todos los Waffle Houses (un restaurante de 24 horas que especializa en desayunos y conocido por sus gofres) en voz alta, y por eso, durante toda la noche, nos despertamos con gritos de “Waffle House #00037”. 

The first day was spent at the Disney Waterpark Typhoon Lagoon, which I didn’t enjoy much. Pasamos el primer día en el parque acuatico de Disney, Typhoon Lagoon, que no me gustó para nada. 

Friday night we went to Medieval Times restaurant, which was a lot of fun. El viernes por la noche, fuimos al restuarante Medieval Times y lo pasamos bien. 

Saturday was Magic Kingdom Day, and I believe the day we marched in the parade. It’s funny, but I don’t remember marching in the parade that much. I remember getting ready for it, but the actual marching I don’t remember a thing. El sábado fuimos a Magic Kingdom, y creo que también fue el día que participamos en el desfile, aunque, de hecho, no lo recuerdo muy bien. Recuerdo la preparación y el cambio de ropa, pero no recuerdo el desfile para nada. 

We didn’t have a lot of time for exploring the rides or the park because of the parade. No había mucho tiempo para explorar las atracciones ni el parque por eso. 

Sunday morning we went to the new Animal Kingdom park, which I liked. The afternoon was reserved for MGM Studios, and I fast-passed the Tower of Terror ride. I also went on the then Aerosmith-themed ride. El domingo por la mañana, fuimos al entonces nuevo parque Animal Kingdom, que me gustó por los animales. La tarde era para MGM Studios, y hice el Fast-Pass para la atracción  Torre de Terror y también la atracción de Aerosmith (que creo que cambian bastante). 

Monday we returned…but a few weeks later I’d be on another trip to New York City for the senior class trip. El lunes fue el viaje de vuelta, pero unas semanas después tenía otra viaje, este a Nueva York para el viaje del final de curso. 

It was another long night bus ride (and yes, we stopped at Breezewood, ugh.) Fue otra noche larga por el autobús (y sí, paramos en Breezewood joder). 

I don’t remember a lot of the NYC trip, but I do know that we went to Chinatown and Little Italy. We had a tour of Central Park, and we went to the NBC Studios where I bought too much Friends stuff. We went up the Empire State Building during a thunderstorm, which scared me to death. No recuerdo mucho de este viaje, pero me acuerdo de haber ido a Chinatown y Little Italy. Hicimos un tour de Central Park y fuimos a los estudios de NBC donde me compré demasiadas cosas de Friends. Subimos el Empire State Building durante una tormenta, que me daba mucho miedo. 

I remember wanting to go to the World Trade Center because I hadn’t been, but we didn’t have time for that or to see the Brooklyn Bridge. I definitely wish I would have had the chance to visit the WTC, as 15 months later they would be gone. Recuerdo que quería visitar el World Trade Center porque nunca había estado, pero no había tiempo para eso ni para ver el Puente de Brooklyn. Ojalá pudiera visitar los Torres Gemeles, como unos 15 meses después ya no estaban. 

I still haven’t been to Brooklyn, but considering it’s the home of the Dodgers, the Humphreys on Gossip Girl and Sonny Corinthos on General Hospital, I don’t think I’m missing much. /joke Todavíà no he visitado Brooklyn, pero como los Dodgers, los Humphrey de Gossip Girl y Sonny Corninthos de General Hospital vienen de Brooklyn, creo que no pierdo nada (¡broma!)

Coincidentally enough, I would return to both places the following year…Era una casualidad, pero volvería a ambos sitios el año siguiente.
