Growing up, my parents never got along, and for good reason. My father was an emotionally and physically abusive jerk. Imagine Donald Trump without money, and you have my father, who died when I was 15. Cuando era un niño, mis padres no lo llevaban bien y con razón. The next morning, we got up and visited Blennerhassett Island, an island in the Ohio River. It’s most famous for the Blennerhassett home where Harman Blennerhassett met with Aaron Burr to plot treason. This was twenty years before Hamilton and a few months before the Got Milk? commercial “Who shot Alexander Hamilton in that famous duel?” The tour guide asked that, and I was the only one in the group that knew that as we had studied that in my seventh grade Ohio History class. El día siguiente, nos despertamos y fuimos a la Isla Blennerhassett, una isla en el río Ohio. We probably stopped at the Hopewell Cultural National Historic Site, which includes the indigenous Mound City and Seip Mound. Creo que paramos en el Hopewell Cultural National Historic Site, donde los monumentos indígenas Mound City y Seip Mound están ubicados. 

The trip with my father to Texas was centered around baseball and the Cleveland Indians, so I was miserable. We stayed near Six Flags in Ft. Worth, and we went there one day. Another day we rented a car and drove some place that all I remember about was 90 miles (145 km) from Waco. The heat was horrible. I don’t remember anything about the baseball games. Nos alojamos cerca de Six Flags, un parque de atracciones, en Ft. Worth, y fuimos un día. I do remember oversleeping on Friday and missing our flight, so we had to fly standby, which was horrible. Pero sí, recuerdo que dormimos tarde el viernes y perdemos nuestro vuelo, y por eso, tuvimos que volver de espera, algo que es horrible. 

It was the last vacation I took with my father, which was probably a good thing. However, I would have a few left with my mom. We were saving money for 1996, which was a huge event known around the world….Fueron las últimas vacaciones que hizo con mi padre, que probablemente era por lo mejor.
