Ourense was my 50th province to visited, and I finally arrived in late June 2018. I didn’t have much opportunity to explore it and only had time to stop in the capital city. Like the other 49 provinces, I hope I can return one day to see more of the interesting place. Ourense fue la 50ª provincia que visité de España, y por fin llegué a finales de junio de 2018. No tenía mucho tiempo para explorarla y solo estaba en la capital. Como las otras 49 provincias, espero poder volver algún día para ver más del sitio interesante.

1. Los puentes de Ourense

The capital city of Ourense, population 106,905, has four rivers within the town limits, which means there are lots of beautiful bridges crossing them. The two most famous cross the River Minho. The Ponte Vella is 38 metres (125 feet) above the river and was first built under Augustus’ rule. It has been rebuilt a few times and was last rebuilt in 1679. The Ponte do Milenio was inaugurated in 2001 and is a symbol of modernity for the city. La capital de Ourense, población 106.905, tiene cuatro ríos dentro de los límites, que quiere decir que hay muchos puentes bonitos que cruzen los ríos. Los dos más famosos cruzen el Río Minho. El Ponte Vella tiene 38 metros de altura sobre el río y fue construido por la primera vez durante la época de César Augustus. Lo han reconstruido varias veces, la última vez en 1679. El Ponte do Milenio fue inaugurado en 2001 y es un símbolo de la modernidad de la ciudad.

2. Las termas (Yet to discover)

Ourense has one of the largest amounts of geothermal water in Europe and the hot springs are a popular tourist attraction. Temperatures in the pozos range between 36º-60ºC/96,8º-140ºF. Ourense tiene una de las cantidades de agua geotermales de todo Europa y las termas atraen muchos turistas. Las temperaturas de los pozos oscilan entre 36º-60ºC. 

3. Allariz (Yet to discover)

Allariz, population 5982, is a medieval village on the River Arnoia with several paths along the river. Nearby Santa Marina de Aguas Santas has a collection of prehistoric remains. Allariz, población 5982, es un pueblo medieval situado en el Río Arnoia y tiene muchos senderos por el río. Santa Marina de Aguas Santas con su colección de restos prehistóricos queda cerca. 

4. Parque Natural de la Baixa Limia-Serra Xurés (Yet to discover)

This natural park has been a UNESCO Biosphere Reserve since 2009. It’s full of mountains and beautiful scenery. It’s located near Portugal. Este parque natural ha sido un UNESCO Biosphere Reserve desde 2009. Tiene montes y paisaje bonito y está situado cerca de Portugal. 

5. Cañones de Sil/La Ribeira Sacra (Yet to discover)

The Canyon of Sil, in the Ribeira Sacra, was formed by the River Minho. There are tons of beautiful reservoirs and scenery in the area and would be great for hiking. The area also has a lot of monasteries. El Cañón de Sil, situado en la Ribeira Sacra, fue formado por el Río Minho. Hay muchos embalses y paisajes bonitos en la zona y estaría bien para senderismo. La zona también tiene bastantes monasterios. 

6. Monterrei (Yet to discover)

Monterrei is a village of 2655 inhabitants that’s home of one of Galicia’s best-kept forts, the Castillo de Monterrey. Monterrei es un pueblo de 2655 habitantes. Hay una fortaleza, el Castillo de Monterrey, que es una de las mejores conservadas en Galicia. 

7.  Pazos de Arenteiro (Yet to discover)

Pazos de Arenteiro is a small hamlet that doesn’t even have a Wikipedia entry in Spanish. It’s a town made of stone on the River Arenteiro with impressive views. Pazos de Arenteiro es una aldea pequeña que ni tiene una entrada de Wikipedia en español. Es un pueblo de piedra por el Río Arenteiro con vistas impresionantes.
