It’s that time of year again.
In 2014, it began with two days on the Camino del Norte, one day from Irún to Donostia and the second day from Donostia to Zarautz.
In 2015, it continued with several days, spread out over the spring and summer, from Zarautz to a final weekend in Cantabria, ending in Santander.
In 2016, it continued from Santander to that cursed village La Isla in Asturias, where so many peregrinos had to go home due to various maladies.
This year, this week actually, I’ll be starting in La Isla and seeing how far I get during my two-weeks off at the summer camp. I feel really unprepared this year as opposed to other years, but what else am I going to do while in the north for two weeks? Might as well see how many kilometres I can cross off in these two weeks.
I plan on continuing the Camino del Norte, taking a few days to transfer to the Camino Inglés via Ruta do Mar and arriving in Santiago.
Once I have the Compostela and won’t have to worry about the masses of the Camino Frances at all, I’ll be doing the Camino Primitivo in 2018. Then I have two other routes that will be kept secret for now, but summers 2019 and 2020 will be very interesting indeed!
A continuación…
PD: Plans are already changing. I’ll be leaving from Gijón and picking up La Isla-Oviedo next summer before starting the Primitivo.
Ah, Buen Camino… I’m looking forward to the posts! I wish you good weather, lots of coffee stops, no blisters…

Gracias…posts will be up in the second half of August. Only one day of rain forecast at the moment and looks like afternoon…keeping fingers crossed! You know el Norte 😉

Happy walking! 🙂 Look forward to reading your updates.
I’d love to do the Camino too someday but my husband and I agreed that when we do it (which can’t really be until our youngest had grown up a bit more), we’ll do it the expensive way… At our age, after a long day’s walk we want to be pampered. No hostel dormitories for us but comfortable beds, good dinners and most importantly a nice hot bath to stretch out in! We also probably would have to plan regular rest days! 🙂

Thanks! I started in 2014 and still haven’t arrived! Lol. I enjoy exploring the pueblos too much. So the expensive way is ok, and nothing wrong with a rest day.

Great! Buon Camino. Looking forward to hear from your hike. And tell your hiking friends or hiker wannabes: HYOH! There is no “good” way but only your own way to do it.

Thanks! What does HYOH mean?
