I did a stretch of the 35-km long Parque Fluvial del Turia back in February, and I’ve been wanting to see this famous dam I didn’t make it to then. I was recovering from a cold, so I didn’t want to do much, but I did want to do something now that my time in Valencia is most likely coming to a close.
On a lazy spring Sunday afternoon, I decided to stop being lazy and caught the Valencia metro (Line 9) to stop La Presa (dam in Spanish). It was about a 20-minute walk to the dam, and, of course, I got confused by Google Maps. I found myself there anyway and took some time to enjoy the beauty.
I decided to walk on to the nearby village Riba-Roja de Túria, a town of 21,499 residents located at the end of Line 9 on the Valencia metro.
It was an easy and pretty walk, perfect for this time of year, by the Río Turia. I liked the bridges. There were a few people out for a Sunday stroll, and even more bikers.
The Parque Fluvial is perfect for strolls, and for those who want something more active, they can do more kilometres.
