On a mid-October sunny Sunday afternoon, I took off for a short day on the Camino de Levante, finishing up the etapa that I should’ve done the first day. The nice part about doing this Camino at my leasure is I don’t have to feel bad about 5 kilometre days or breaking my Camino rules (I won’t listen to Jordi V, my iPod, on an official Camino Day). Un domingo por la tarde en octubre, hice un día supercorto del Camino del Levante, acabando con la etapa que ya debería haber completado el primer día. Lo bueno de hacer este camino por ocio es que no tengo que sentirme mal de días de solo 5 kilómetros o rompiendo mis normas que tengo para el Camino (Como no escucho a Jordi V, mi iPod, en un día oficial del Camino, por ejemplo). 

I caught the train from Valencia Nord to Catarroja, where I had left off the prior week. The Camino goes under the train tracks to go through an endless industrial zone that last all the way to Silla. For that reason, I broke out the headphones to listen to the new Kings of Leon album to keep rolling! Cogí el Cercanías de València Nord a Catarroja, donde lo dejé la semana pasada. El Camino de Levante baja por los carriles de tren para pasar de una zona industrial sin fin hasta Silla. Por eso, escuché música (el nuevo de Kings of Leon) para animarme. 

Outside of Catarroja, there was at least a dry river bed with green grass for natural landscape views. Al menos en las afueras de Catarroja había un cauce seco de un río con césped verde para tener un poco de vistas de naturaleza. 

I beat the hour and 15 minutes Google Maps said it would take, doing it in about an hour. It was entire road walking, and not particularly interesting road walking at that. When you needed an arrow, the Camino usually provided one. Acabé con la ruta por el día en menos tiempo que la hora y 15 minutos que Google Maps me dijo que tardará. Lo terminé en sobre una hora. Todo el Camino era por la carretera o acera, y tampoco era muy interesante.

I had been to Silla before, and this time I found it more interesting arriving from the Camino de Levante. It has a population of 18,644, according to the 2014 census. The church in the city centre was beautiful, and I would like to see it when the square isn’t under construction. Había estado en Sevilla una vez antes, y este vez lo encontré más interesante llegando por el Camino de Levante. Tiene una población de 18.644, según el censo de 2014. La iglesia en el centro era bonita, y me gustaría volver a verla cuando la plaza no está en obras. 

I caught the train back to Valencia. My next day on the Camino de Levante will be longer, but I feel Silla was a good stopping place. I hope this Camino gets more interesting, and I feel sorry for the peregrinos leaving from Valencia on this one as their first day will be flat but boring and industrial…and all on the road! The province of Valencia (and the city too) is so much more beautiful than this! Cojé el tren para volver a VAlencia. El próximo día en el Camino de Levante será por más tiempo, pero me sentí que Silla era una buena punto para parar. Espero que el Camino sea más interesante, y me sabe mal por los peregrinos que empiezan en Valencia y ven eso por su primer día. Un día plano pero aburrido y industrial, y todo por la carretera. La provincia y ciudad de Valencia son mucho más preciosas que eso.
