I’m freaking out. Estoy flipando.
Ok, sure. I’m all packed. By the time this publishes on Thursday, I will be walking to Santiago (in what looks like a rainy day). It may not have all the stuff I’m supposed to have, but it has some changes of clothes, including a nice outfit for any off days, my hiking sticks, sunscreen galore, a poncho, a poncho for my backpack, a sleeping bag liner, a first-aid kit, a towel, and toiletries. I will have my travel journal (for recording thoughts that will eventually become blogs here), I have my credentials. I have the first few days taken care of reservation wise, since I hear it is packed, and I think I know what I want to do past that. Still…I feel super unready.
Am I really doing this? Will my money last? Five years of reading accounts and stories of the Camino…could I prepare more? I am unsure which are the best albergues, if I can do several days of 20 plus kilometre hiking (or more)…my hopes are to last 10 days between Santander and Oviedo. People have made it further. I hike on a regular basis. Hago senderismo mucho.
Still…what lies ahead? Pero…¿que pasará?
Let’s find out. ¡A por ello!

Ahh, Buen Camino!! I know that you’ve already completed a few days, and I hope so much it’s been a good experience. How are the crowds? I can’t wait to hear about it!!

It is amazing. Not that crowded at all. Most of the time I am alone, maybe will see 4-5 other peregrinos…albergues are always full but haven’t had a problem with finding a bed. I am in Pendueles right now…in the one you stayed at I think! How is Scotland?

Buen Camino! I love the fedora hat. You will be one stylish peregrino!

Gracias! The hat is from valenciano, typical of the beaches, so It is definitely great for the lack of sin north!

“What lies ahead” is the question that drives most of us pilgrims forward. Whatever today brought, tomorrow will be something entirely new. Buen Camino!

Very true. I still wonder what’s around the river bene, so to speak.

I am visiting South America for a few months next week and am terrified that I am woefully underprepared! I expect that any amount of preparation will not be enough. Good luck!!
